Now that's what I call a hamburger! As promised I am posting a picture of "The Ultimate Bacon-Mushroom Cheeseburger" A.K.A. "The Perfect Krabby Patty"
- 4 Slices of bacon
- 1/4 Cup of olive oil
- 4 Medium portabello mushrooms about 4 inches in diameter each
- Black pepper
- 4 Hamburger Patties
- 4 Slices of the cheese of your choice, I used American Cheese
- 4 Hamburger buns
- 4 Crisp lettuce leaves
- In a large saute pan over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp, about 10-12 minutes. Remove the bacon and set on a paper towel to drain. Save the bacon fat in the pan and add the olive oil.
- Remove and discard the mushroom stems. clean the caps with a most paper towel and, using a spoon, scrape out the black gills from inside the caps. Generously brush them with the bacon fat oil mixture. Season with pepper.
- Dethaw your hamburger patties or make your own, Season both sides of your patties with salt and pepper.
- Grill the 4 burgers and mushrooms to your liking, you must grill the mushrooms for as long as you brill the patties. during the last minute or two, add a slice of cheese to each of the patties and let the cheese melt. During the last 30 seconds grill the buns until lightly toasted.
- Serve warm with each burger topped with a patty, a mushroom, a leaf of lettuce and condiments of your choice.
